Meet Lauren: Director St Nicholas Early Education Raymond Terrace
St Nicholas Early Education Raymond Terrace opened its doors for the first time in January. On hand to share what the opening of the centre means to her was Centre Director, Lauren.
“Something we’re really looking forward to at St Nicholas Raymond Terrace is building a relationship with the local community,” Lauren said. “Getting the children involved with the community, so finding ways to bring the community into the centre and take the children out.”
The new centre boasts a dedicated nursery for children aged 0 - 15 months, a generous toddler program, a 2 ½ - 3 ½ year-old program and a preschool program catering to children aged 3 ½ - 5 years.
Lauren has an extensive background in early childhood, but says the philosophy of St Nicholas stands out to her because of its unique child-centred, play-based approach to early education.
“The thing that attracted me the most to St Nicholas is the way that it’s able to [apply] the principles and practices of the Reggio Emilia approach [to early learning],” Lauren explains. “It’s something that strongly aligns with my own personal philosophy and something that I feel is very important for children in the most vital years of their life and learning.”
Lauren also appreciates the diversity of talent across the educational team at St Nicholas Raymond Terrace.
“Our team here at [Raymond Terrace] come from a number of different experiences and backgrounds in early childhood,” she said. “We’ve got a lot of passionate educators who I know are very excited to welcome all new families to our centre and to our community.”
While there are limited spaces available, St Nicholas Raymond Terrace is still accepting enrolments for 2019.
