Community involvement at St Nicholas Early Education Raymond Terrace
“We at St Nicholas Raymond Terrace believe that being involved in the local community is so important that we teach the children within our care how a community works,” says Yola, an educator in the junior preschool room at St Nicholas Early Education Raymond Terrace.
St Nicholas Early Education’s commitment to families and the community is to promote positive and respectful links to the local community by taking children out into the community and bringing representatives from the community into centres.
Speaking of the benefits of excursions into the community, Yola says: “We believe that regular outings and contributions to events in our local community are ways we can encourage children to be active participants in their world.”
St Nicholas Early Education Raymond Terrace visit Opal Aged Care
Yola recently organised for the children of St Nick’s Raymond Terrace to participate in regular excursions to Opal Aged Care to bring some joy to older members of the community.
“I chose the Opal aged care facility because it’s something really close to my heart - I know that some of the older people in the community don’t have family that visit them anymore,” Yola explains.
“For me, it’s really important that we can take our little ones and they can bring joy to them.”
“We are also looking into regular excursions to local libraries, police stations and shopping centres,” Yola adds.
