Construction well underway for St Nicholas Early Education Newcastle West’s extension
Due to increased demand, St Nicholas Early Education Newcastle West will be expanding its service from a 52-place centre into a 92-place centre by January 2020.
Construction is well underway on the development, with St Nicholas General Operations Manager, Kerri Armstrong, dropping by the site recently to take a look at the progress.
“Our development is going to reach right down to our Selma Street access,” Kerri said. “We’re really excited about this extension to the service and its due to the demand we’re experiencing at [St Nicholas] Newcastle West right now.”
Supporting working families
The demand is highest among families with children under the age of two who are working in Newcastle’s CBD. It is common for working parents to want their children close to where they work and St Nicholas Newcastle West’s expansion will further accommodate for this.
The expansion will allow for small group nurseries, with the program growing from a 12-place to a 32-place program. The programs will be separated into small groups allowing educators the opportunity to further accommodate the needs of each individual child.
Additional and extended outdoor play spaces
It will also include additional and extended outdoor play spaces, to build on the unique quality of St Nick’s Newcastle West as being one of the only CBD child care services with an immersive , natural outdoor environment.
