How to be a good friend and ask, ‘R U OK?’
We’re never too young to look out for one another and lend support. While children can’t be expected to fix the problems of another, they can be encouraged to listen and show they care.
R U OK? Day is a national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, ‘Are you okay?’ and support those struggling with the trials of everyday life.
This year, people are being encouraged to ‘Trust the Signs, Trust your Gut & ASK R U OK?’
When you communicate with others, considering what they are saying, what they are doing and what’s going on in their life.
How St Nicholas is fostering children’s kindness and wellbeing
Educators at St Nicholas Early Education promote positive behaviour guidance through their everyday centre operations. Some of the ways they achieve this is by:
encouraging children to express themselves and their opinions;
promoting respectful and equitable relationships between children and educators and;
helping children to recognise the feelings of others.
